The Belfast Co-op’s Board of Directors thanks Doug Johnson, its general manager, “for his extraordinary leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The board said that Johnson has responded to the multitude of operational challenges over the past few weeks with courage, creativity, and commitment.

“From providing extra support, protections and incentives to staff who remain at work during the pandemic, to quickly implementing our Shop For Me Program for free curbside pickup, to ensuring compliance with the Maine Governor’s directives, to ensuring that the Co-op applies for available economic supports, he has done an exceptional job of keeping the Co-op open and functioning as a centerpost of our Belfast community during these troubled times,” said Howard-Doliber, who is Vice President of the Belfast Co-op.

”Doug, his leadership team and staff have ‘turned on a dime’ to implement real time responses in a business and personal safety environment that changes daily while also taking the opportunity to help other businesses through sales of their gift certificates. Through Doug, the Co-op is showing up for its owners, customers and community. Please thank him the next time you see him!”
