Belfast awarded $990,000 infrastructure grant, conducts requisite review
The City of Belfast has been awarded a $990,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Infrastructure Grant, which is planned to be used to pay for a portion of the costs of an infrastructure improvement project for the section of Congress Street between Grove Street and Route 1, and for the entirety of Salmond Street, in Belfast.
The City is currently performing the required environmental review process for this grant so that these funds can be released to be used in the future.
The “Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)” level of environmental review requires the City to send a copy of a notice of that Finding of No Significant Impact to any individuals and groups known to be interested in these activities, which citizens may be.
The full Combined Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact and Intent to Request a Release of Funds can be found below. The full environmental review record (ERR) may be downloaded here.
Any individual, group, or agency disagreeing with this determination or wishing to comment on the project may submit written comments on the ERR to the City of Belfast at: City of Belfast, Attn: Thomas Kittredge, Economic Development Director, 131 Church Street, Belfast, Maine 04915, or via e-mail at: economicdevelopment@cityofbelfast.org.
All comments received prior to or on December 29, 2024 will be considered by the City of Belfast prior to submission of a request for release of funds.
