Beekeeping demonstration at Merryspring, May 27
Dick Vermuelen will lead an outdoor demonstration on beekeeping, Tuesday, May 27, at 4 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
Vermuelen will show how to: install a nucleus (nuc) into a 10-frame deep Langstroth hive body, adjust the entrance reducer for the small nuc, add a one-gallon pail feeder with 1:1 sugar syrup, and how to protect the feeder from weather and robber insects. Additionally, Vermuelen will show how to determine the actual Varroa mite count, how to keep the mite level low, and more. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
This program is co-sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel. Attendance is $10 for members; $15 for non-members and pre-registration is required.
