Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine welcomes Elizabeth Bushnell to its staff as Program Manager for Penobscot and Waldo counties. Bushnell manages the agency’s community youth mentoring programs, including screening, training, matching, and supporting Bigs and Littles in school and site-based programs in the greater Bangor area, and throughout Penobscot and Waldo counties.

Bushnell is a lifelong resident of Bangor, where her passion for helping children and her community has led her to diverse career opportunities, including children’s museum program development, youth mentoring, childcare, substitute teaching, and grant writing. She is a graduate of the University of Maine, where she received a bachelor’s degree in international affairs, and currently resides in Bangor with her husband and their two
children.

BBBSMM Executive Director Gwendolyn Hudson said, in a news release, that Bushnell’s broad experience and connections, combined with her compassion for youth, are a perfect fit for the agency’s focus on expanding services in Penobscot County.

“Elizabeth brings so much energy and expertise in supporting local families,” Hudson said. “She is excellent at recruitment, screening, matching and supporting Bigs and Littles, to ensure long-term, positive outcomes for children.”

Focusing on the critical need for adult mentors in the greater Bangor community, Bushnell said she is eager to bring her passion for youth advocacy and connecting people with what they need.

“Every kid deserves to feel like they belong. Our Bigs are making a difference every day by living out this message with their Littles,” Bushnell said. “I’m thrilled to be joining an organization that values the potential within each and every child, as much as I do.”
