Bay Chamber holds free and ticketed concerts, Aug 7 - 11
Bay Chamber continues their summer concert series with free and ticketed concerts between Aug. 7 and 11.
On Wednesday, August 7, at 9:30 a.m., young musicians participating in Bay Chamber’s Envision Workshop will present a free “Good Morning Camden” concert on the Lyman-Morse wharf in front of the Whistling Whale.
At 5 p.m., on August 7, Envision Workshop faculty will perform a free concert at Hammer Hall in a program featuring music by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and more.
On August 8, at 9:30 a.m., acclaimed violinist Simone Porter will perform a variety of solo violin repertoire at Zoot Coffee in Camden.
On August 11, at 5 p.m., the Creative Collective Ensemble will perform a free concert including Bowie, the Beatles, jazz, and blues in the Camden Public Library Amphitheatre.
On August 8, at 5:30 and 8 p.m., in Hammer Hall, the Viano Quartet will present a program featuring Samuel Barber’s string quartet and Beethoven’s E Minor String Quartet from his “heroic” period. In between these two monumental works is Wu Man’s Glimpses of Muqam Chebiyat, a piece inspired by traditional Chinese music.
On August 9, at 5:30 and 8 p.m., in Hammer Hall, Simone Porter is joined by the Viano String Quartet, bassist Evan Premo, and harpsichordist John McKean. The performance presents Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in its entirety.
