Barbara M. Carr, obituary
THOMASTON — Barbara Mae Carr passed away on June 25, 2021 surrounded by her family after an extended illness.
Barbara was born on April 24, 1941 in Rockland, Maine where she remained a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Roger and Gladys Vose and the sister of Ronald Vose. She was also the long-time friend and sister-in-law of Violet Karl.
Barbara was the loving and devoted wife of the late Vince Carr. Together they loved and raised four children: sons Duane Carr and Bill Carr, and daughters Kelly Carr and Kimberly Carr Kuhn. Barbara and Vince also cared for Anthony Pierpont for several years.
Barbara loved and adored her ten grandchildren: Chelsea Carr, Bill Carr, Jessica Woodbury, Kashia Shepard, Trevor Wilson, Mikey Carr, Joey Carr, Emily Kuhn, Luke Kuhn, and Jayson Kuhn. Barbara also loved her six great-grandchildren; Brody, Oren, Owen, Brycen, Jaxon, and Deven.
Barbara worked as a server at Dave’s Restaurant for many years. She later worked as a counselor and therapeutic foster parent at the Bancroft School in Owls Head.
Barbara’s lifelong passion was raising and nurturing her children and grandchildren. She was a great homemaker and enjoyed welcoming people into her home and hosting themed parties. She loved celebrating and decorating for every holiday of the year. Barbara was also an animal lover and always enjoyed having a pet companion by her side. She loved music and especially loved to dance. Barbara’s family adored watching her alongside her favorite dance partner and the love of her life, Vince. Barbara was a woman of many talents.
She was an amazing cook and loved being in the kitchen. She could be found crafting in her spare time and playing rummy. Barbara also enjoyed doing Snapchat videos with her grandchildren with whom she shared many laughs. She cherished spending time with her family as well as her beloved dog Mary. Barbara spent the last several years of her life sharing a home with her daughter Kelly and enjoyed being a part of the many family gatherings.
Barbara was a beautiful soul who will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her family will cherish her memory and the many life lessons she shared with them.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 3, at 11 a.m., at the Thomaston Village Cemetery. Following the service, attendees are invited to a Celebration of Life at 26 Clark St., in Thomaston.
Flowers are welcome at the graveside service.
