The team at Lincoln Medical Partners stands ready to deliver COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots to those who need them. The vaccines are being delivered, by appointment or walk-in, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Watson Health Center.

Here’s a list of what is offered along with eligibility requirements:

    • Moderna, first and second doses, ages18 and older
    • Moderna booster, ages 18 and older, five months after completing the first and second dose
    • Pfizer, first and second doses, ages 5 and older
    • Pfizer booster, ages 12 and older, five months after completing the first and second dose

Immunocompromised individuals can receive a third dose of either Pfizer or Moderna 28 days after completing the first and second dose.

If you or someone you know is ready to be vaccinated or boosted, go to Vaccine.MaineHealth.org or call 877-780-7545 to make an appointment. You can also walk in to the Watson Health Center in Damariscotta during the hours listed above.

Those who are considering a booster shot should be encouraged by recent studies that show the dramatic improvement in protection against COVID-19 that comes with the booster shot. Here’s some key data:

Reduced Hospitalizations. An mRNA booster (third dose of mRNA vaccine) increases the chances adults are not hospitalized from 82 percent to 97 percent.

Reduced ER and Urgent Care Visits. A booster shot reduces emergency department and urgent care visits due to COVID by 82 percent.

Reduced Chances of Infection. During Omicron, those who were vaccinated with a booster shot were five times less likely to contract the infection.

While 75 percent of eligible Mainers have received either one dose of the J & J vaccine or two doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, only 37 percent of Mainers have been boosted. So there’s still some work to be done.
