Alice M. Chadbourne, obituary
ROCKLAND — Alice M. Chadbourne, 70, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Sussman Hospice House in Rockport.
Born in Rockland, March 23, 1949 she was the daughter of Stillman, Sr. and Ruth Butler Taylor. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Georges Valley High School.
On November 1, 1969 Alice married Elwyn ‘Butch’ Chadbourne. The two spent 50 wonderful years together and she devoted her life to being his wife. She took great pride and joy in caring for his needs and the needs of her son.
For many years Alice was employed as a seamstress, working both for Van Baalens and herself. She was extremely talented, making clothing for her family, and was often commissioned by local Main Street shop keepers. She loved knitting and crocheting and made many beautiful sweaters for all of her family members.
She was an avid reader and loved a sitting down with a good book.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her parents, Mrs. Chadbourne is survived by her beloved husband, Elwyn, of Rockland; her son, Scott Chadbourne and his wife Susan of New Hampshire; her sister, Anita Gould of Thomaston; her grandchildren Dominic Chadbourne, Natasha Chadbourne; and one great-granddaughter, Ivy Dinsmore.
Mrs. Chadbourne’s family has chosen to remember her life privately. She will be laid to rest beside her parents at the Village Cemetery in Thomaston.
