We at Allen Insurance and Financial have a long and storied relationship with the tall ship and traditional rig community, but this might be one of the most unique vessels we have ever worked with! We are proud to be helping to bring the DRAKEN HARALD HÅRFAGRE to Rockland, Maine July 22-25 and would like to invite you all to join us and visit this amazing ship when she opens for tours July 23-25.

You can check out the schedule at the link below and pre-purchase tickets for on-board tours as well as a Monday night documentary on sailing the Draken across the Atlantic in 2016 at the Rockland Strand Theatre and a Tuesday night talk at the Rockland Apprenticeshop by Captain Bjorn Alhander on the building and operation of the world’s largest replica Viking ship. There’s also free fun to be had at the official arrival ceremony on Sunday July 22 and throughout the visit in the Draken Village in Harbor Park. In addition, the Draken is looking for volunteers to help throughout the event. Under US Law the Draken may not use any of their foreign crew members to assist them with shop duties. There are also opportunities to help with boarding.

The Draken captain writes: “We will provide all volunteers with an official Draken Crew shirt and cap to wear on-site. Also, if they work a 5-hour shift with us, we will provide them with the appropriate meal (lunch or dinner). We will just need a head count for that day on how many volunteers plan to stay for that duration so we can notify the cook. We suggest that all volunteers show up 30 minutes prior to their shift starting so they can be trained on their specific duties and then relieve the off-going volunteer. We recommend that they bring with them a water bottle, (let’s cut down on disposable plastic) sunglasses, and sunscreen.”
