Prophetic Tidbit – Faith and Faithfulness

What does it mean when people say they have faith? Most mean they believe there is a God. Some go further to tie their loyalty to a specific religion, denomination, sect, or philosophical belief system. Thus, many are familiar with a God they do not know.

True faith is in a person – the Lord Jesus Christ, who said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).  As Christians of faith understand, the Church is not a building, denomination, or religion, but the faithful in Christ Jesus of the household of faith (Eph. 1:1, 2:19).

Many see the trait of faithfulness as being faithful to attend Church, participate in Church activities, traditions, and ministries, all-embracing the same doctrine. However, without the glory, authority, power, and light of Christ moving in our midst, we are merely participants of organized religion. Because of this, many are on life support focusing on maintenance for survival.  We are empowered by Christ to live the victorious, overcoming, abundant life.

Jesus taught that the faithful obey His living Word and commandments, walk in love, dwells in the light of His presence and as faithful stewards of the gospel, use their gifts and talents that reveal Christ and His Kingdom “on earth as in heaven.”

True faith is of the heart.  Only love will keep you faithful – faithful to the Lord, to His purpose, serving Him with all of your heart, mind, and soul, loving one another as God loves us. Faithfulness reveals where the love of our heart dwells and that which we serve.  As Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Mathew 6:21).

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him” (Jer. 17:7).
