Apply to Trekkers!

Trekkers invites all seventh graders that live in Rockland, Thomaston, South Thomaston, Cushing, Owls Head, and St. George to apply to join the program. They will hold a Community Meeting for students and families later this month to learn about the program and the details for how to apply. 

Now in its 30th year, the nonprofit organization Trekkers offers youth mentoring programs to students in the midcoast. The six-year program begins in seventh grade and lasts through twelfth grade. Each team builds relationships through short weekend trips and day trips. They meet regularly to plan their longer expedition, which may include community service, outdoor activities like hiking or canoeing, as well as learning about the environment, new cultures, and perspectives. The older high school students will also learn how to set goals and learn strategies to prepare for life after high school. Watch the video here.

All seventh graders from Rockland, Thomaston, South Thomaston, Cushing, Owls Head, and St. George are eligible and invited to apply, regardless of financial ability. Trekkers has opportunities for families so that all students may join, regardless of ability to pay dues.
