Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, domestic violence assault, stolen mailbox
WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 231 calls for service from June 26-July 10. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
June 27
Officer Larry Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen that his neighbor’s mailbox was stolen.
Sgt. Jamie Wilson investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 4:45 p.m. Mary Reid, 83, of Middleburg, Va., was driving a 2017 Ford utility vehicle. Michael Hummel, 42, of Bellbrook, Ohio, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet utility vehicle. Reid was traveling northbound on the Atlantic Highway. Hummel was also traveling northbound on the Atlantic Highway, ahead of Reid. Hummel slowed to make a stop to make a left turn onto Kalers Pond Road. Reid did not see Hummel had stopped and hit his vehicle in the rear, causing damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.
June 28
Officer Andrew Santheson is investigating a report from a citizen of an attempted burglary.
Theron Thibodeau, 28, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Santheson for a violation of conditional release and a warrant.
June 29
Wilson investigated an accident at the intersection of Friendship Rd and Finntown Road, at 3:27 a.m. Dimitra Crudell, 25, of Bath, was driving a 2000 Saturn sedan. Crudell was traveling west on Finntown Road, skidded through intersection of Friendship Road and struck a CMP pole and embankment on southbound shoulder of Friendship Road. Injuries were reported.
Dimitra Crudell, 25, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine for burglary, theft and terrorizing.
Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen of her stolen medications and phone.
Wilson investigated an accident on the Friendship Road at 7 p.m. Kathleen Simmons, 48, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2012 Hyundai sedan. Deann Vigue, 54, of Washington, was parked legally, driving a 2013 Chevrolet utility vehicle. Vigue was parked on Friendship Road in front of Sproul Block Apartments in a parking space. Simmons hit the rear drivers corner and rear fender well, causing damage to both areas of Vigue’s vehicle. Simmons then left the scene without reporting the accident.
July 2
Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident at the Old Augusta, Washington Road intersection, at 9:35 a.m. Dean Barlow, 45, of Knox, was driving a 2000 Honda motorcycle. Chase Macioch, 29, of Warren, was driving a 2003 GMC pickup truck. Barlow was traveling southbound following the roadway on the Washington Road. Macioch was traveling westbound following the roadway on the Old Augusta Road. Injuries were reported.
July 3
Luke Wooster, 41, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer John Lash for domestic violence assault.
Hesseltine is investigating a report from the Medomak Arts of stolen beer and wine.
July 4
Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen that he had money stolen from his vehicle.
July 7
Spear is investigating a report from a citizen of the possible theft of money.
Marin Fosdick, 44, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Spear on a warrant.
July 8
Roger Feltis, 25, of Canaan, was issued a summons by Spear for operating after suspension and failure to show proof of insurance.
July 9
Spear is investigating a report from a citizen that someone damaged the fender on his vehicle.
July 10
Nicholas Winter, 18, of Lincolnville, was arrested by Spear for operating under the influence.
A 17-year-old male, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer Thomas Bartunek for unauthorized use.
Nicholas Adkins, 27, of Warren, was arrested by Hesseltine for operating under the influence.
