Kathleen Galli-Hooper, obituary
HOPE — Kathleen “Kathi” Galli-Hooper, 69, beloved wife of F. Perry Hooper, died peacefully on May 15, 2017, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, following a period of declining health.
Born in Detroit, Mich., on July 10, 1947, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Dolores Kuehnel Theobald. Growing up in Brighton, Mich., she attended local schools, graduating from South Alphonsus High School in 1965.
Following high school, Kathi married her first husband, William Bowen, and the couple welcomed two sons, Thomas and Ronald Bowen. Following his untimely death, she married her second husband, Charles Galli, and kept busy raising her children and four stepchildren, as well as helping with their business. For more than 40 years they owned and operated the Brighton Automatic Car Wash. Upon Charles's death, she continued running the car wash with her son, until he purchased the business when she retired. After retirement Kathi wintered in Florida. She met F. Perry Hooper through a mutual friend and they were married in 2007.
Kathi and Perry have enjoyed traveling, visiting family and friends along the way. She loved to play games, especially Texas Hold'em poker and bingo. In her early years she could be seen knocking down pins at the local bowling alley. Kathi took great pleasure in the many trips and tours she was able to take with her friends.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Kathi was predeceased by William Bowen and Chuck Galli; a brother, Charles Theoboald; a sister-in-law, Annie Theobald; and a grandson, Ryan Showers. She is survived by her husband, F. Perry Hooper; her sons, Thomas Bowen (Denise) and Ronald Bowen (Carole); her stepchildren, Celeste Showers, Janice Kilgore, Alex Galli and Marc Galli (Mary), all of Michigan, and Sherry Gagne and Juliann Rackliff (Butch), all of Maine; her brothers, Larry Theobald (Diane) and Robert Theobald; her sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Theobald and Judith Theobald and Carol Ciupa; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of Kathi's life will be held Friday, May 26, at 3 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. The Rev. Seth D. Jones will officiate. A service is also planned in Brighton, Mich., on Tuesday, June 6.
