Myra Maxcy, obituary
FRIENDSHIP – Myra W. Lash Maxcy, 89, left this world on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2106, surrounded by her loving family, and holding the hand of her beloved brother, Paul Lash, who prayed her into heaven and New Jerusalem, at Lincoln Health in Damariscotta.
Born in Friendship on Oct. 19, 1926, Myra was one of 14 children born to Robert and Levilda Carter Lash. Growing up in Friendship she was educated locally and was a 1944 graduate of Thomaston High School.
Following high school she married Harlan S. Maxcy on March 20, 1946, in Camden. Together they made their home in Friendship most of their married life.
Together with her husband, Myra enjoyed motorcycle riding, often riding to Machias just to get a piece of pie. They also enjoyed camping at Moosehead. Most of all Myra enjoyed time spent with her seven children and all of her grandchildren. Her family was very important to her.
Above all Myra loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She made it her life's work to make sure others knew him as well. She was an active member of the Friendship Advent Christian Church. She was proud and thankful to be a member of the Lash family, as their strong Christian heritage in Friendship has carried on for many years.
For many years Myra was employed at Sylvania’s, retiring at the age of 62. Although she worked outside of the home, she also spent countless hours as a homemaker, keeping the details of her growing family together and making sure all of their needs were met. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Maxcy in 2009; her brothers, John, Austin, Douglas, Harold, Robert Jr. and Winfield Lash; her sisters, Mary Wotton and Eleanor Lash; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Lane, Lucille Lash and Benjamin Kaler; and a son-in-law, Roger Simmons; Myra is survived by her children, Linda Simmons of Warren, Varna Anderson and her husband, Virgil, of Friendship, Roberta Anderson and her husband, Weston, of Topsham, Jill Caldwell and her husband, Stuart, of Orr's Island, Eric Maxcy of Thomaston, and Emily Crowley and her husband, Richard Jr., of Orr's Island; her siblings, Philip Lash and his wife, Janice, Esther Lane, Howard Lash and his wife, Lois, Carolyn Kaler and Paul Lash, all of Friendship; her sisters-in-law, Lucille Lash, Kay Lash and Barbara Lash, all of Friendship; a daughter-in-law, Awilda “Diddy” Maxcy of East Friendship; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
