M. David Allyn, obituary
CAMDEN — M. David Allyn, 78, died March 3, 2016, at the Sussman House in Rockport, after an extended illness.
Born in Caribou on Aug. 3, 1937, he was the son of M. David Sr. and Elizabeth MacDonald Allyn. He was educated in Caribou schools.
David served four years with the U. S. Navy, where he developed a love of the ocean. He served primarily aboard the U.S.S. Carpellotti, with duty that he described as wonderful; sailing winters in the Caribbean and summers in the Mediterranean.
Upon honorable discharge from naval duty, David moved to Rockland, where he pursued his love of the water as a commercial fisherman. He worked in that industry more than 30 years.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Esther A. Jones Allyn in 2006. He is survived by one son, Eric E. Allyn of Rockland; one step-daughter, Cheri Connor and her husband, Edward, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
