Alan ‘Pete’ Tinker, obituary
SEARSMONT — Alan "Pete" Tinker, 70, of Searsmont, passed away on March 4, 2016. Pete was born Aug. 19, 1945, in Eastport, to Helen Tinker. He graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1963. After high school, Pete enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he traveled as a photographer across Europe and the United States.
Pete's post-Air Force profession was as a house painter on Mount Desert Island and also a wildlife rehabilitator at Aqualand in Bar Harbor. His livelihood was outside with nature, fishing, hunting and trapping. Pete always had a funny story to tell about his memorable Red Sox trips, trapping and hunting expeditions, and the many characters he called his friends and family.
He was predeceased by his mother; and survived by his wife, Olive, of Searsmont; his siblings, Marie Baxter and her husband, Richard, Nancy Bishop, and Brian Gillis and his wife, Cathy; his children, Mark Tinker and his wife, Patti, Connie Tinker, Gina Tinker, and Michael Tinker and his companion, Kristy; his step-children, Kenny Butler and his wife, Pauline, and Vicki Eugley and her husband, Michael; his grandkids, John "J.C." Goodwin, Alisha Tinker, Hailee Goodwin, MacKenzie Tinker, Sierra Tinker, Carley Sevene, Hannah Sevene, John-Henry Tinker and Jaden Sevene; five step-grandchildren with special thanks to Sam Butler for his caregiving; one great-grandchild, Mason Tozier; three step-great-grandchildren; and many other close relatives as well as his trapping and hunting buddies from across the country.
In memory of Pete, please make any donations in his name to the Sussman House in Rockport. At Pete's request, there will be no services.
