UNION — Linda Lee Pollis, 54, died March 3, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a six-month battle with cancer. Born May 5, 1961, in Rockland, she was the daughter of Frank Salvatore and Sally (Ashford) Liuzza.
Linda grew up in South Thomaston, where she attended Guilford Butler Elementary School and later Rockland District High School, where she graduated, Class of 1979. Linda also attended Coastal Cosmetology School in Thomaston.
Her early employment included Rockland Leathers, the Keag Store in South Thomaston and Great Eastern Mussel Company in Tenants Harbor, where she worked as a human resource director. She received her certified nursing assistant certificate and later her certified residential medical aide certificate working at the Maine Veteran's Home in Augusta, Knox Center For Long Term Care in Rockland and Windward Gardens in Camden.
On Sept. 14, 2014, she married her soulmate, Neil L. Pollis, in Lincolnville. They enjoyed camping and spending time with their close friends.
Linda was a blue ribbon winner at the Union Fair for several years with her delicious blueberry muffins. A creative decorator and excellent baker, Linda also loved spending time in her flower gardens and going to lawn sales.
Linda loved working as a hair stylist in her home and later at Bartlett Woods in Rockland, where she worked until she was forced to stop for health reasons last year.
She will be remembered for her generosity, her compassion for others and her tenacious spirit.
Surviving is her husband, Neil Pollis of Union; her son, Corey D. Simpson and his fiancé, Angela Polky, of South Hope; her mother-in-law, Donna Pollis of Augusta; her sister and caregiver, Jean Derochers and her husband, Dan, of Union; her stepchildren, Matthew Pollis and Christopher Pollis, both of Rockland, and Benjamin Pollis of Warren; her brothers-in-law, Craig Pollis of Readfield, and Keith Pollis and his wife, Darcy, of Chesterville; her sister-in-law, Karen Lucarrelli of South Carolina; her five step-grandchildren; her nephew, Kevin Jackson from Thomason; Jeffrey Godard and niece, Lauren Godard, both of Rockland; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Sally Liuzza; her father-in-law, Lloyd Pollis Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd "Bill" Pollis.
A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held Saturday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at Celebration Life Family Church, 3 Cross S. in Rockport with the Rev. Michelle Wiley officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
