Marian Wikstrom, obitiuary
ROCKLAND — Marian P. Wikstrom, 100, died peacefully Dec. 31, 2015, at Quarry Hill in Camden.
Born in Rockland on July 8, 1915, she was the daughter of Guiliano and Angelina Armata Passalacqua. Educated in local schools, she was a 1933 graduate of Rockland High School.
Other than residing 14 years in Newcastle, Marian lived most of her life in Rockland. In recent years, she resided at the Stella Maris House in Rockland, and at Merry Gardens and Quarry Hill, both in Camden.
Most of her career she worked as a manager at Atlantic Sportswear in Rockland.
On June 14, 1959, she married Alfred Wikstrom in Rockland. He died in 1967.
Marian loved flower and vegetable gardening.
She was a communicant of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, and was active in the Retired Senior's Volunteer Program and Knox County Senior Citizens, all in Rockland.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was predeceased by one sister, Mary Liuzza. She is survived by one niece, Nancy Kangas of Franklin, Mass.; two great-nephews, Paul and Wendy Kangas of Franklin, Mass., and Larry and Judy Kangas of Metarie, La.; a great-niece, Mary and Paul Irvine of Franklin, Mass.; several great-great nieces; as well as two step-grandchildren, Joy McNaughton of Portland and Jeffrey Crafts of Wiscasset.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit Monday, Jan. 11 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Bernards Catholic Church, 150 Broadway in Rockland. Spring interment will be in Coughlin Memorial Cemetery on Rankin Street in Rockland.
