BUCKSPORT — Mary O. Grimes, 77, of Bucksport and Friendship, passed away peacefully Dec. 11, 2015, at her home in Bucksport.

Mary was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Burlington, Vt., to parents George Simmons Sr. and Marguerite Billado Simmons. Mary attended and graduated from local schools. On July 4, 1960, she married Everett Grimes of Vermont. She helped Everett in the family business while raising their three children.

Mary was a very friendly and kind person. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her children. Mary loved to travel because it allowed her to meet many new friends. She was a member of the Ellsworth Adventist Church. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mary was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Charlie and Donald Simmons; her sister, Frances Simmons; and her brother-in-law, Dennis Benner. She is survived by her sons, Jim Grimes of Orrington and Rick Grimes of Rockland; her daughter, Lisa Grimes of Wiscassett; her grandchildren, Mark Grimes and Eliza Grimes Martin and her husband, Brandon Grimes, of North Carolina; her great-grandson, Caiden Martin; her brother, George Simmons Jr. and his wife, Cynthia; her sister-in-law, Shirley Royer Simmons of Cushing; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held Friday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St. in Waldoboro with the Rev. Josias Baez Roman officiating, followed by interment at Harbor Cemetery in Friendship.
