Elaine McNulty, obituary
ROCKLAND — Elaine I. McNulty, 76, died peacefully Oct. 2, 2015, at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Elaine was born Feb. 7, 1939, in Boston, Mass., and was one of seven children of Joseph and Isabel McNulty.
She now joins all of her family members in eternal rest.
She was a graduate of Boston area schools and was employed for 32 years by the New England Baptist Hospital. Later she was an office manager for her dear friend, Dr. Frank Rand of the Boston Spine Center.
She retired to Rockland in 2004 to be with her family. While here she enjoyed the school and sporting events of her grandchildren, attending church, spending time with family, feeding and watching the birds, and the company of the family pets.
She also spent much time in prayer for the needs of others.
She was a true patriot and supported many veteran causes. She was a dedicated supporter of St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital. There was no bigger fan of the Manning brothers, Peyton and Eli.
Having lost her mother at a young age, her life was spent nurturing and providing motherly guidance to those around her. She was compassionate, humorous and jovial. She did not mince words and you always knew where she stood.
Fond of saying "Tis a great life if you don't weaken," she, after a long struggle with various health issues, did herself weaken, and bid her Lord to take her home.
Her life was one well lived, a simple giving life; filled with much laughter, love and joy. Though many will measure a distinguished life based on what one acquired or possessed, these things she did not seek. She understood that the monuments to status wither with time; but love, like the love she gave endures for eternity.
She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, William Joyce and his wife, Iris; her loving grandchildren, Jocelyn, Joelle, William and Raechel; her devoted nieces, Sue Merna, Leanora Gaul and Marceline Noble; as well as many other nieces and nephews and many good friends everywhere.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit Monday, Oct. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 150 Broadway in Rockland.
