Owls Head woman wins AIO quilt
ROCKLAND — On Pies on Parade Day, January 25, at the Lighthouse Museum in Rockland, Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) held the drawing for the contemporary Baltimore Album style quilt that has been shown at businesses, churches, and events around the area since last fall.
The winner, drawn by Bob Cleveland of Hope, is Marty Shaw of Owls Head, who was notified by email and replied, “Holy Cow!!! I have never won anything wonderful in my whole life!!!”
Shaw bought five tickets, which cost her $20.
Altogether, the raffle brought in just under $3,000 for the AIO food pantry and emergency assistance.
The AIO board and volunteers are grateful to Carolyn Herron of Rockport who contributed the quilt, which took her hundreds of hours to make, according to a news release. Herron contributed additional hours showing the quilt and selling raffle tickets.
Herron is on the AIO board, serving as treasurer.
