ROCKLAND — Online applications are now available to young women interested in entering the 68th annual Maine Lobster Festival Sea Goddess Pageant.

The 2015 Sea Goddess Coronation, steeped in tradition and pageantry, will take place Wednesday evening, July 29, 2015.

As always, it will be one of the highlights of the 68th annual Maine Lobster Festival, according to a news release.

Prior to the Pageant, participating Festival Princesses will participant in local events and activities that highlight and promote the 2015 Maine Lobster Festival.

The application and supporting information must be postmarked no later than March 30, but no earlier than February 14.

The Maine Sea Goddess Pageant is open to 20 eligible young women who meet the Maine Lobster Festival’s guidelines. Applicants must be single, a high school (or equivalent GED) graduate, not more than 21 years of age, and a Maine resident.

The young woman chosen as Sea Goddess receives a $2,000 cash award and acts as representative of the Maine lobster fishing industry at events in Maine and across New England throughout her one-year reign.

The Maine Lobster Festival attracts thousands of people to Maine’s Midcoast region, and has a long tradition of giving back to the local community.  In recent years, the Festival committee has given more than $500,000 to the local community through support for organizations such as Midcoast Regional Child Development Services, Trekkers and Meals on Wheels.
