Updated: Three injured in Northport crash identified
NORTHPORT — A two-car head-on crash on Route 1 (Atlantic Avenue) in Northport, near the intersection of Crows Nest Road, Tuesday afternoon injured three of the four people involved.
The Waldo County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, along with Belfast Fire and ambulance, Northport Fire Department and eventually, Lincolnville Fire Department helped with traffic control during the accident reconstruction work.
According to Waldo County Lt. Jason Trundy, the call to 911 came in around 3:45 p.m. Jan. 13. Initial information gathered at the scene is that the southbound vehicle, driven by Roger Feltis, 22, of Waldoboro, crossed the centerline for an undetermined reason, striking the northbound vehicle, driven by Malorie Dearborn, 21, of Belfast. Dearborn was the sole occupant in her vehicle, according to Trundy.
Feltis had two passengers in his vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Douglas Anderson of Port Clyde and 18-year-old Chad Hammond of New Harbor.
Tuesday evening, Trundy said in an email that Dearborn, Feltis and Hammond sustained “non-life-threatening injuries.”
In an email Wednesday morning, Trundy said that Dearborn sustained back and leg injuries, and Feltis and Hammond sustained leg injuries and broken bones. Anderson was not injured. They were transported by ambulance and LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to either Waldo County General Hospital or Eastern Maine Medical Center, but Trundy Wednesday did not specify who went where or by which means.
Trundy said the cause of the crash remains under investigation by Deputy Merl Reed, and that the accident scene is being reconstructed by Deputy Benjamin Seekins.
