ROCKPORT — New paintings by Stephen Florimbi are on display at Bangor Savings Bank in Rockport, through December.

Working mainly with oils and oil pastels, Florimbi creates multilayered abstracts and landscapes from natural patterns and places both local and imagined.

He writes: “I am fascinated by what scientists call “crypsis,” the ability of an organism to avoid observation or detection by other organisms.

As an artist I contend with visibility and invisibility, with being or not being seen, and the concept of longevity, this landscape, this life.”
