St. George MSU Board announces new superintendent
ST GEORGE — The St. George MSU Board has approved Dr. Christina Wotton as the next superintendent, effective July 1, 2025. The current superintendent, Mike Felton, who has led the district for ten years, will be stepping up to become the Executive Director of the CTE Makerspace Program.
Dr. Wotton brings a wealth of experience to this role, according to the Board. She currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Augusta Schools and previously spent six years as Assistant Superintendent of RSU 40. Her background, which began as an ed tech, includes serving as a principal and a special education teacher. She earned her doctorate from the University of New England, with research focused on communication for non speaking autistic individuals.
"Christina’s believe system is a great match for St. George," said the Board.
“These roles have deepened my belief in the power of collaboration and the importance of listening to the community, and the need to support the whole child by ensuring every student gets what they need to thrive," said Wotton.
Wotton was drawn to St. George by the district's strong sense of community and its commitment to knowing and supporting every child, according to the Board.
"We are all excited by the possibilities that lie ahead for us. In ten years since becoming an independent school system we have become a respected school within our area, known for dedicated educators and innovative programs," said the Board. "None of this would have been possible without the support of the community of St. George. The financial support is obvious when you look at the CTE program, built without any expense to taxpayers, but there is also the personal support. On a regular basis volunteers mentor students, clean playgrounds, support PTA projects, and attend school events. To the community of St. George, please join us in welcoming Christina Wotton to our school."
