Man arrested for pointing gun at officer in South Thomaston
SOUTH THOMASTON – A New Hampshire man remains in the Knox County Jail for allegedly pointing a gun at an officer in South Thomaston.
Dennis Duquette, 46, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct with a firearm, violation of a condition of release, and domestic violence assault.
Duquette made his initial appearance in Knox County Court March 24 where Judge Sarah Gilbert set his bail at $50,000 cash.
According to the affidavit filed in court by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Duquette was arrested March 21 after they responded to a report on Waterman’s Beach in South Thomaston that a man was outside with a gun and was threatening to shoot people. Police said he also threatened to shoot responding officers.
When deputies responded, Duquette ran from the residence where the call originated. The suspect had a gun and pointed it at a deputy who ordered the man to drop the gun or he would be shot. He eventually put down the gun, according to the affidavit.
Police said that the gun had been stolen.
A woman at the residence said Duquette had destroyed property in the home and knocked her to the ground.
Duquette is scheduled to appear in court again on May 15.
