Searsport area high school theater premieres original one-act play “Being Brontë”, Feb. 27
SEARSPORT — Searsport District High School will premiere an original one act, “Being Brontë”, written by SDHS alum Grace Scharlacken, this Thursday evening, February 27, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., at Mt. View. An educational comedy of sorts, “Being Brontë” toggles back and forth between a pair of modern podcasters who imagine life in the Brontë household, and the Brontë family themselves – Victorian writers Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë, Aunt Elizabeth Branwell, and brother Branwell Brontë.
The cast includes veteran actors Bay Nadeau, Connor Courtney, and Aiden Boyd, all Seniors this year, and Sophomore Keira Saball. Making their one act debut, Freshmen Dilyla Brown, Morgyn Cornell, Joslyn Merithew, and Selina Cantres round out the cast. Crew members include Haylie Whitney, Lillian Boyd, Jay Swimm, Nellie Stanley, Aspen Fogg, Nevaeh Bradstreet, and Joslyn Merithew, several of whom have been designing and sewing original Victorian costuming for the show.
Show dates and times are as follows: Thursday, February 27, at Mt. View; Friday, February 28, at Troy Howard Middle School; and Saturday, March 1, at Searsport District Middle/High School. All shows begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets $5 at the door to enjoy all three local high school shows.
Searsport will be performing at their regional festival at Medomak High School on March 7, at 7 p.m.
