Summer of S.P.I.E.S. Reading Program at Rockport library
ROCKPORT — Rockport Public Library invites young patrons to participate in a unique “Summer of S.P.I.E.S.” Summer Reading program. There will be sleuthing for sure, but this S.P.I.E.S. program will also allow students to explore science, problem solving, art, and a live-action game of CLUE.
There will be reading challenges with fun prizes and a bilingual musical concert, in Mary Lea Park, by Latin Grammy nominee, Flor Bromley (sponsored by First National Bank and First National Wealth Management).
A kickoff party will be held on Tuesday, July 9, at 1 p.m., where students can pick up their summer reading challenge maps and important event information. Participants will begin their adventure with a secret spy obstacle course, complete with special agent ID cards once their mission is over.
Subsequent programs will include activities like a live-action game of CLUE where students can dress in character, and solve the classic whodunit. There is so much more in store: pinwheels, pancakes, a make-your-own ice cream and sundae celebration, and a fashionable garden party.
Space is limited for some of the programs. Please call the library at 207-236-3462 to register. Additional details about these events and other offerings from the Rockport Library can be found at rockportlibrary.net
