Submissions open for Art Gone Wild 2024 Micro-Residency

BELFAST — Waterfall Arts and Coastal Mountains Land Trust have launched the Art Gone Wild 2024 Micro-Residency, inviting artists to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and share their creativity in a unique outdoor setting.
Art Gone Wild is a collaborative endeavor between Waterfall Arts and Coastal Mountains Land Trust, aiming to foster a deeper connection between art and the natural world while providing an enriching experience for visitors to two of Belfast preserves: Head of Tide Preserve and Stover Preserve.
Waterfall Arts and Coastal Mountains Land Trust have provided the following information:
Why Art Gone Wild?
Land Trust Preserves are more than just scenic landscapes; they are communal spaces where individuals can engage with nature, find solace, and explore cultural expressions. Through Art Gone Wild, we aim to democratize access to art and offer the public new ways to interact with their environment. By bringing art to these preserves, we hope to inspire introspection, empathy, and appreciation for the diverse ways in which we experience the natural world.
Who Are We Looking For?
Waterfall Arts and Coastal Mountains Land Trust are seeking artists who can serve as catalysts for deeper connection and understanding of nature through their work. Artists will have the opportunity to utilize the trails, picnic areas, and other spaces within the preserves as exhibition areas for their creations. We encourage artists to consider how their work can enhance visitors’; experiences and provoke thought about our relationship with the environment.
How to Apply
Interested artists are invited to submit a 250-word proposal, along with any reference photos, to Waterfall Arts Program Director Amy Tingle, at amy@waterfallarts.org. The chosen artist will receive a $1000 stipend to support their residency.
Deadline for Entries
The deadline for submissions is June 7, 2024. The Micro-Residency will take place in July 2024, with specific dates to be determined in collaboration with the artist and Waterfall Arts and Coastal Mountains Land Trust staff. If proposals include an installation component, there is the potential for work to remain on site for up to two weeks, based on weather predictions, etc.
