OCEANSIDE, California — Ernest A. Tolman, 82, died November 21, 2023, following a brief illness. Born in West Rockport, Maine, March 3, 1941, he was one of 13 children born to Donald E. and Esther Watts Tolman.

Ernie graduated from Union High School in June of 1959. He joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served from 1960 to 1964. Upon discharge from his military service, Ernie settled in California.

On March 31, 1972, he married Patricia Davis in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in California.

For 31 years, Ernie worked for Rockwell Aviation, starting as a machinist, and working his way up to supervisor before retiring in 1995. Ernie was an avid golfer, enjoyed target shooting and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Other than his parents, Ernie was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Tolman and Paul Tolman; five sisters, Mildred Wiley, Barbara Widdecombe, Leola Vinal, A. Betty Paulsen and Gloria Keadle.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Pat; two sisters, Geraldine Barker of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Maxine King of Rockland, Maine; three brothers, Alfred Tolman of Hope, Maine, Lloyd Tolman of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Richard Tolman of Warren, Maine.
