Three charged with aiding escape of recaptured Belfast prisoner
BELFAST — Three people have been charged with aiding escape as a result of the March 25 escape of Belfast prisoner, Robert Porter, 39.
The charges follow an investigation into the circumstances of how Porter was able to make his escape, in addition to how he was able to evade capture until later the same evening, according to a media release from Waldo County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Cody Laite. Porter reportedly escaped around 12:45 p.m.
Daniel Therrien, 37, of Belfast, has been charged with aiding escape, unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, and violating a condition of release.
Everett Hall, 56, of Belfast, has been charged with aiding escape.
Rosemarie Breen 42, of Belfast, has also been charged with aiding escape.
Porter escaped from custody while at Waldo County General Hospital after being transported for treatment, reportedly running from the area in a hospital gown and jail-issue orange pants. He was ultimately located around 9 p.m. March 25, walking on Swan Lake Ave.
Laite wrote that several interviews and the execution of a search warrant on an apartment in Belfast led to the charges against Therrien, Hall, and Breen.
Though the investigation continues, Laite wrote that the WSO “felt it was prudent to update the reported information.”
