Scone Goddess to host grand opening celebration in Northport

Mon, 05/16/2022 - 8:45pm

NORTHPORT — Whenever Veronica Stubbs speaks about her business, her face lights up with a combination of total joy and mild astonishment. Give her a few minutes and she will invariably recount a story or two of how various people in the Northport community and beyond have stepped forward, in big ways and small, to lend a hand in the development of her beloved business, The Scone Goddess.

On Saturday, May 28, Veronica and the entire Scone Goddess team hope to express their gratitude in the form of a celebration for the whole community from 7:30 a.m. to noon. The Grand Opening Celebration officially ushers in The Scone Goddess bakery (or ‘cottage’ as it is sometimes known), which was constructed last fall and opened for business in December of 2021.

“We are so thankful to so many people who helped in the construction of our bakery, and in the many phases of our business over the past three years,” said Stubbs, in a news release. “We wanted to wait until spring to celebrate the bakery’s grand opening because spring is such a beautiful time of year in this area. We hope everyone will come by and join us outdoors for live music and an epic variety of 40 flavors of scones.”

The festivities on Saturday, May 28 will include a live band, Mike and Susie & Friends (from 10 a.m. to noon) and an unprecedented selection of 40 flavors of scones – the widest variety ever created by The Scone Goddess at once.  S

erved hot, fresh and bursting with flavor, The Scone Goddess scones have developed quite a following since the early days in 2019 when they were available only at the local farmer’s market. Since that time, the business has evolved into offering scone mixes online for orders across the US, placements in co-ops and stores in the Northeast, and now even offers licensing for people who want to open their own Scone Goddess bakery or food truck.

Community members are also invited to attend the bakery’s official Ribbon Cutting, happening at 9 a.m., Thursday, May 26. The Belfast Chamber of Commerce will be there to welcome and officially usher in the new bakery, which is located on Atlantic Highway in Northport.

Normally closed on Sundays, The Scone Goddess will also be hosting an Artisan’s Market from 9am until noon on Sunday, May 29, as part of the grand opening events. Local artisans will staff the event and feature their creations – from hand-crafted pottery, to jewelry, artwork and more.

“Our customers and supporters are truly the best. It has been amazing —  the growth of our business and the local support we have received all along the way. My family and I are really honored to call Northport home. Come celebrate with us!” said Stubbs.

In summary, here is the lineup for the grand opening:
