Searsmont man arrested for alleged BB gun window damage
Since mid-February the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, Belfast Police Department and the Maine State Police have taken 20 calls for service involving windows being damaged at area businesses, private homes and several vehicles.
Most locations targeted were located along Route 1 from Northport to Belfast and Route 3 from Belfast to Liberty, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
“The damage appeared to be caused by someone shooting the windows with a BB gun,” the S.O. said, in a news release. “A coordinated investigation culminated on March 11, 2022 when WCSO Detective Sergeant Merl Reed arrested Alan Kunesh, 51, of Searsmont, for Aggravated Criminal Mischief, Class C.”
Kunesh was taken to the Waldo County Jail where he later posted a $500 cash bail.
“The investigation is ongoing and we encourage anyone with information regarding additional locations that may have been damaged to contact the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office at 338-2040,” the S.O. said.
