Strand announces Metropolitan Opera Live In HD 2021-22 season










ROCKLAND — The Strand Theatre will present the 2021-22 season of The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts from New York City.
The season kicks off October 9 with Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, with bass René Pape portraying the tortured tsar caught between grasping ambition and crippling paranoia. Conductor Sebastian Weigle will lead Mussorgsky’s masterwork.
The Saturday matinee performances will be transmitted live from the Met stage at 12:55pm; encore presentations will be offered on Tuesdays. Due to scheduling conflicts, two of the operas will be presented as encores only.
The Met’s 2021–22 Live In HD season features ten spectacular productions, including four Met premieres. The presentation dates are as follows: Boris Godunov: Live on October 9, encore on October 19; Fire Shut Up In My Bones: Live on October 23, encore on November 2; Eurydice: Two encores, on December 11 and 21; Cinderella - A Holiday Presentation: Live on January 1, encore on January 11; Rigoletto: Live on January 29, encore on February 8; Ariadne auf Naxos: Live on March 12, encore on March 22; Don Carlos: Live on March 26, encore on April 5; Turandot: Live on May 7, encore on May 17; Hamlet: Live on June 4, encore on June 14; and Lucia di Lamermoor: Two encores, on June 18 and 28.
All presentations are at 1 p.m.
The Met: Live in HD series brings live Met performances to more than 2,000 venues in 73 countries across six continents.
Tickets for the live broadcasts are $27/Adults, $25/Strand Members, and $15/Students 18 and under. Student ticket pricing is offered to college students with ID. Tickets for encore presentations are $23/Adults, $15/Strand Members, and $5/Students 18 and under, and college students with ID. The Strand Theatre’s COVID safety policies include capping the audience size at 30% (100 patrons) for Met Live In HD presentations and providing reserved-seat ticketing that creates a safety buffer around each party.
