George W. Bartlett, obituary
ROCKLAND — George W. Bartlett, 76, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 8, 2020 following a sudden illness.
Born February 21, 1944 in Rockland, to Norris C. and Marion A. (Hall) Bartlett Sr., he was educated in local schools.
George began working at an early age and would eventually find his way to Brooks Trap Mill in 1977 where he worked until retiring in 2019 to care for his wife. George considered Brooks to be a second family.
A quiet, family oriented man, George enjoyed many things; spending time fishing at their cottage on the backside of Chickawaukie or working in his gardens. His family recalls that he also loved to putter and was always “puttering” around with something. But mostly doing woodworking of all sorts.
He married the love of his life, Kathleen (Sylvester), March 11, 1966. The two of them were described as “two peas in a pod” always spending time together. Over time Kathleen would come to require daily care, a job that
George took on with love and devotion and continued right up to the day of his passing.
Predeceased by his parents, his sisters Joan Bartlett and Evelyn Watrous, his brothers, Fred and Norris (Jr) Bartlett; he is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Rockland; his brothers, Arthur Bartlett and his wife Priscilla of
St. George, Donald Bartlett and his wife Bonnie of Litchfield, Robert Bartlett and his wife Regina of Oakland; his sisters, Marion Seidner and Norene Laatz both of Camden, and Adelaide McKenney of Katy, Texas; his sister in-law, Diane Bartlett; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
George’s family has decided to remember his life privately, and he will be laid to rest in Achorn Cemetery.
