ROCKLAND — A Rockland man has filed a lawsuit against the city of Rockland, claiming he was injured when he slipped at the transfer station and fell into a trash opening in the floor.

Tony L. Randall filed the lawsuit in Knox County Superior Court Aug. 8. The suit alleges that on Feb. 8, 2018, he got out of his pickup truck to dispose of some garbage and slipped on a slippery substance on the floor, lost his balance and fell into the opening.

The suit states that the city was negligent to leave the opening’s perimeter fully open and unguarded, without any railings, chains or barriers of any kind.

Randall is seeking damages for his injuries, which will continue to incur in the future, loss of earnings and earnings capacity, emotional anguish and legal fees, according to the lawsuit.

The specific monetary amount that Randall is seeking is not included in the lawsuit.

The city of Rockland was served with the lawsuit Aug. 20 and has 20 days to file a response.

Randall is represented by Attorney Daniel Kagan of Lewiston.
