Woman charged after self-reported accident
BELFAST — A local woman has been charged with operating under the influence following investigation of a self-reported accident, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
Julie Tufts, 52, of Frankfort, called 911 Feb. 5 to report she had exited the roadway and become stuck, though she was unsure of exactly where she was, according to a press release.
Deputy Darrin Moody responded to the call, locating Tufts on Loggin Road in Frankfort. While assisting her, Deputy Moody saw alcohol in the vehicle, and believed Tufts to be under the influence. She was ultimately arrested and transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center.
Tufts, who is currently under bail conditions from a Jan. 8, arrest for operating under the influence,received the same charge as a result of the Feb. 5, crash. Tufts arrest Jan. 8, was also the result her involvement in a motor vehicle accident, according to the press release.
In addition to being charged with operating under the influence, Tufts was also charged with violating conditions of release. As of Feb. 6, Tufts remains in custody on $500 bail.
