BELFAST — A Belfast woman was arrested for allegedly operating under the influence Aug. 19, after attempting to order her children Happy Meals from the Dairy Queen drive-thru.

Christy Neumann, 42, reportedly argued with Dairy Queen staff, insisting that she was, in fact, at McDonald’s, and “was going to get her kids a Happy Meal,” according to Belfast Police Sergeant Matthew Cook.

Her children, aged three and seven, were with her at the time of the incident.

Suspicious that the woman was intoxicated, Dairy Queen staff “stalled her order until [Belfast Police] could arrive,” Cook said.

Cook said that while Neumann was far from cooperative, she did not actively resist arrest.

Neumann was charged with operating under the influence, violating conditions of release and endangering the welfare of a child.

The children were picked up at the scene by their grandfather.
