Wednesday at the Shores begins 30th season of Picking on the Porch
Wednesday at the Shores's 30th season of Picking on the Porch will be held June 18 - September 24.
Under the stars or in the garden kitchen, join others for an old-fashioned picking party and sing-a-long. Bring your instrument and take part in a guided jam session.
"This is a community celebration so please pack a picnic and invite friends and family along," said Searsport Shores Ocean Campground, in a news release. Food truck on hand June 18 will be Portable Pie.
One of the longest running music jams in Maine, Wednesday at the Shores plays all genres of music together, leaning towards Old-Time, Bluegrass, and Americana favorites. Players of all skill levels and ages are encouraged to attend. Music sheets are provided when helpful....check out the Searsport Shores Jam Book to get an overview of the kind of tunes that may be played at the Jam, "or just try out a few of the tunes at your campfire and then come on over to the jam session," said the release.
Participate in a craft project while you are tere. Are you a maker or grower? Bring your artisanal products and sell them from a table nestled into the garden (vending space is free BUT samples and demonstrations are strongly encouraged).
Anytime the weather is nice, the musicians will be on the bandstand and the audience on the grass. There are picnic benches for seating but plenty of room if you'd like to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket.
"We welcome you to pack a picnic and relax into an evening of old-time community fun," said the release. "If the weather is questionable, we settle into the garden kitchen and covered porch for the evening. We are completely handicapped accessible."
Wednesday nights, 5-7 pm. No cost, everyone is welcome.
