BELFAST — Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) welcomes Sigrid E. Berg, MD, MPH, as a full-time member of its team of providers in the Oncology and Infusion Therapy Department. Dr. Berg began seeing patients at WCGH last month.

As part of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network, the WCGH Oncology and Infusion Therapy Department is committed to providing cancer patients with the best possible care close to home, according to a MaineHealth news release.

Before joining WCGH, Dr. Berg served as medical director of Northern Light Cancer Care at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Brewer.

Dr. Berg earned her medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine and her masters of public health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her residency training in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and her fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, WCGH has adopted additional measures to keep patients and staff safe, including masking in all of its facilities. The medical staff at WCGH strongly believe that the vaccine is safe, effective and the best way to end the pandemic, according to the release.

“If you haven’t already, please get vaccinated,” said the release.

Dr. Berg is accepting new patients by referral. To learn more about Dr. Berg and cancer care at WCGH, please go to www.wcgh.org or call 505-4163.
