Waldo County General Hospital offers Flu Clinics in October
Waldo County General Hospital will offer flu clinics at several Waldo County locations this fall. The clinics, which are open to the public, will offer the flu shot in both the standard dose and the high dose often favored by seniors. Adults age 18 and older are welcome.
Drive-thru locations include:
Belfast: Fridays, Oct. 4, Oct. 11, Oct. 18 and Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Biscone Medical Building parking lot, 119 Northport Ave. (across the street from the main hospital campus)
Brooks: Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon, Arthur Jewell Community Health Center, 55 Reynolds Rd.
Stockton Springs: Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 8 a.m. to noon, Stockton Springs Regional Health Center, 11 Cape Jellison Rd.
As in the past, the drive-thru flu clinics have been designed to be user friendly, and no appointments are necessary. Those seeking a flu shot need only follow the signs at the location of their choice. These will lead to a drive-thru designated by traffic cones where clinical staff will greet them and administer the flu vaccine.
The hospital will also offer flu clinics inside the Waldo County YMCA, located at 157 Lincolnville Ave. in Belfast on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Most insurances are accepted, and those with insurance should be sure to bring their insurance card. Some insurance plans only cover vaccines given by your doctor or at a limited set of locations, so consider checking with your insurance company first. Those without insurance who wish to pay out of pocket for a flu shot will be billed. Without insurance, the cost for the regular dose flu shot is $14.76 and the cost for the high dose flu shot is $55.35.
