Vote for Wes Norton for Searsport Select Board

Thu, 02/29/2024 - 9:00pm

Please join me in voting for Wes Norton for Searsport Select Board on March 5, 2024.

I had the privilege of supporting Wes' campaign, driving him door-to-door to talk with residents –– a non-partisan, grassroots effort.

Born and raised in Maine, and in Searsport for six years, Wes has a proven track record of working as an advocate and administrator in the nonprofit sector, including in his current role with the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Before moving to Searsport, where he lives with his wife and daughter, Wes spent years working on Deer Isle and the Blue Hill Peninsula, partnering with area schools to offer enrichment programming in agriculture and culinary arts.

I’m excited about Wes’ commitment to increasing communication and transparency between the town government and the community it serves. We’ll need his leadership to navigate major changes, from ongoing Route 1 road construction and a proposed wind port to making sure downtown Searsport continues to become an economic hub and destination for locals and visitors alike.

From balancing the town’s budget so more of our property tax dollars go back into providing and preserving services for all residents to ensuring Searsport remains an affordable place to work, live, and raise a family –– Wes’ priorities reflect an understanding of where Searsport is now, and where it’s going.

Wes’ fresh, nuanced perspective represents the voice of a younger generation not currently represented on the Searsport Select Board. Diverse ideas, and people, are essential to creating an equitable, thriving, and sustainable community.
