Article 4 is intended to garner support for placing an already drafted Short-Term Rental (STR) Ordinance on the next ballot. Before you vote, we urge you to go to the Town of Rockport website and review the drafted ordinance as well as the archived information on the STR discussion. 

Similar to Alexander and Maud Abess, what we found when we went to the website and reviewed the draft ordinance and archived information is that there is no data to support the need for a STR ordinance – much less one as onerous as the current draft.

A STR ordinance will have a negative impact on our tourism economy, increase financial hardship for homeowners, and is an infringement of property owner’s rights.

Lani Jones put it well: “Maintaining flexible property rights for all Rockport residents is what is really at stake with Article 4, which is why many of us oppose it. It seems to be offering a solution where there is no identified problem. Let’s protect the needs of current and future residents and not take this STR ordinance consideration any further.”

Vote no on Article 4.
