Vicki Doudera is committed to supporting Maine's manufacturing sector and local businesses
I am writing to express my appreciation for the efforts of Representative Vicki Doudera in supporting local businesses and manufacturing in Maine. Her recent actions have demonstrated a genuine commitment to keeping Maine's procurement funds within our state, directly benefiting our local economy and workforce.
A prime example of Rep. Doudera's dedication came to light recently when she intervened in a situation involving Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding, the company I work for and a well-respected business with operations in Thomaston and Camden.
Our metal fabrication department, located in Thomaston, has been gaining recognition as a leader on the East Coast for building top-quality aluminum workboats. Lyman-Morse discovered a contract for the purchase of four aluminum landing crafts that was on track to be awarded to an out-of-state company using Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan (MJRP) funds, without allowing Maine companies to bid on the job. These landing crafts are a type of vessel that we have built many times before.
Upon learning of this situation, Rep. Doudera took swift and decisive action. She systematically highlighted the importance of keeping these funds within Maine, advocating for local businesses that have the capability and expertise to fulfill such contracts.
Her efforts, along with support from Chris Rector, were instrumental in halting the out-of-state purchase and ensuring a fair bidding process that gives Maine companies like Lyman-Morse the opportunity to compete for this contract.
This is not an isolated incident. Time and again, Rep. Doudera has shown her commitment to supporting Maine's manufacturing sector and local businesses. Her proactive approach and willingness to engage with constituents and address their concerns is truly commendable. It's heartening to know we have representatives like Vicki Doudera, whose actions not only help individual businesses but also contribute to the overall strength and resilience of Maine's economy.
I believe it's important to recognize and appreciate dedicated public service. Rep. Doudera's efforts serve as a shining example of how our elected officials can make a real, positive impact in our communities.
