DAMARISCOTTA — The Peace Gallery, a veteran-focused arts collaborative, will open its inaugural Veterans’ Art Show on Friday, May 27, 2022.

The gallery will feature Retrospectives of two WWII veteran artists, Cabot Lyford and William Saltzman, as well as Vietnam veteran Ed Strausberg’s WWII dioramas plus a juried show featuring contemporary Maine veteran artists and crafters. Cabot Lyford, William Saltzman and Ed Strausberg have strong ties to Maine.

“Memorial Day honors the sacrifice of those who fought for our country,” said Peace Gallery founder and president Bernie DeLisle, in a news release. “We think it is fitting to focus our first exhibit on the veteran artists of the WWII generation, those who helped tell their story through art.”

The juried fine art and craft show featuring works by local artist Jacques Vesery showcasing his sculpture, wearable art, paintings and more. Oil paintings and graphite work by Kelsey Towle, and other skilled veteran crafters who work in a variety of mediums.

The show will be open to the public Tuesday thru Sunday, closed Mondays, from Memorial Day through September; 25% of all sales will support the veteran programs. The Peace Gallery is alcohol free.
