ROCKLAND — A motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Maverick Street and Old County Road, on Tuesday, Dec. 13, remains under investigation. However, preliminary reports by the Rockland Police Department indicate that one vehicle was attempting to turn at a time when another vehicle was also in motion.

At 11:10 a.m., Rockland Police responded to the crash and learned that Phillip Harrington, 35, of Woolwich, was driving his blue 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck west on Maverick Street and was trying to turn left from Maverick Street and onto Old County Road to head south.

Joseph Richardi, 50, of Rockport, was operating his black 2012 Nissan Frontier pickup truck east on Rt 17 and crossing through the intersection of Rt 17 and Old County Road.

According to police, Harrington turned his Dodge truck in front of Richardi’s Nissan truck.

“The Nissan was unable to avoid hitting the Dodge truck and crashed into the Dodge, which caused the Dodge to roll over and onto its side,” said Sgt. Andrew Redden.

No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene by Camden Exxon.

ROCKLAND — A vehicle involved in a motor vehicle crash ended up blocking access to a road at the Kaler’s Korner intersection, Tuesday morning.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., Dec. 13, 2022, Rockland emergency personnel were alerted to two vehicles involved in a crash at the intersection of Old County Road and Maverick Street (Route 17). Upon arrival, police, fire, and EMS found one pickup truck parked along the edge of Route 17, and the other vehicle on its side blocking two travel lanes.

For approximately 40 minutes, northbound Old County Road traffic was diverted through a gas station parking lot to Route 17. A police officer sent Eastbound Route 17 traffic down Old County Road toward Rockport. And Westbound Route 17 traffic were forced to either turn around, reroute along Birch Street, or idle in place until 12 p.m., when the intersection reopened.

All parties involved declined medical attention.
