Waldo County Sheriff’s Office deputies are looking for the man they believe to be responsible for the April 9, robbery of Unity Pharmacy, located on Plaza Drive in Unity, according to an April 13, media report from Sheriff Jeffrey Trafton. 

An arrest warrant has been issued for Andrew Sousa, 33, of Brooks, who came to police attention during an investigation into the incident, which remains ongoing. Assistance and resources were provided by the public, Belfast Police, and Maine State Police, in addition to Maine Probation & Parole, the Maine Computer Crimes Unit, and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. 

According to the report, the collaborative effort resulted in the issuance of the arrest warrant for the charge of robbery.

Sousa’s location is currently unknown and the last time he was seen was in Brooks April 9. When approached by law enforcement personnel, Sousa ran into a nearby wooded area where he managed to elude officers.

The robbery occurred around 1:30 p.m., April 9, when a masked man entered the pharmacy and presented a note to a female employee demanding prescription medication. The man, who was dressed in all black, including a ski mask, received an undetermined amount of medication, according to an earlier media report.

The investigation into the robbery remains ongoing and additional details will be released as they become available.
