Due to expected rain, the contractor has pushed back striping operations by one day. Northbound closures are now planned between 11 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23 and 5 a.m. on Thursday, September 24. Southbound closures are now planned between 11 p.m. on Thursday, September 24 and 5 a.m. on Friday, September 25.

BANGOR — The ongoing Ohio Street Bridge replacement project in Bangor will require full closures of the interstate next week to accommodate road striping operations.

The contractor plans to close the northbound side of I-95 between 11 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 22 and 5 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 23, and close the southbound side between 11 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and 5 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Signs will direct drivers to detour routes. Maps are also available on the project website. Like all outdoor construction work, this work is weather-dependent, according to MDOT, in a news release.

The new Ohio Street Bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in October. The new structure includes non-corrosive materials to reduce future maintenance needs. The new bridge also provides an additional 18 inches of clearance for vehicles on the interstate. This project added a turning lane on Ohio Street for vehicles turning onto the ramp to travel southbound on I-95.

The contractor on this work is T. Buck Construction, Inc. of Turner. The contract amount is $5,968,445.
