A Unity man has been arrested on the charge of possessing sexually explicit materials following a Feb. 20 search of his apartment by members of the Maine State Police Computer Crimes, according to a media release.

Scott Tedesco, 57, was arrested at his place of employment, in Pittsfield, and transported to Waldo County Jail, where he remains in custody with a bail of $500, police said. He has been charged with one count of possession of sexually explicit materials.

Authorities seized a tablet and an initial search of the device reportedly revealed dozens of sexually explicit images of children under the age of 12, police said.

According to the release, a more “extensive search” of the contents of Tedesco’s tablet will be done by analysts with the Computer Crimes Unit.

If Tedesco is able to post bail, he is prohibited from having contact with any child under the age of 16.

This marks the second child pornography arrest in Waldo County in the last months, with Belfast resident Gregory R. LaFortune, arrested and charged with the same crime Jan. 25.
