WARREN — A pickup truck in a private Warren driveway burst into flames Thursday, June 10, 2021 following attempts to jumpstart the truck using a Ford Escape.

At approximately 12:20 p.m., Knox Regional Communications Center received a report of a fully-engulfed car fire on Ridgewood Drive that was very close to a garage.

Firefighters from Union and Waldoboro joined Warren personnel in battling the flames, which then spread to the Escape, rendering both as total losses, melted the vinyl siding on the portion of the house adjacent to the garage, and burned the walls on the front side of the two-story garage.

Structural damage to the interior of the garage was minimal, yet due to the heat, smoke, and hose water, the family lost furniture, tools, camping gear, seasonal decorations, 30 years of childhood mementos, and the belongings of a loved one who’d just passed.
